How to Donate to the Action Group

All donations in support of this campaign are made through CPRE Devon but ringfenced for us. To ensure your gift comes to us alone, please follow the instructions below.

By Cheque or Bank Transfer

If you donate directly to CPRE Devon on our behalf using a cheque or bank transfer, please do the following to ensure your gift is held as a Restricted Fund for the Devon Data Centre and BESS Action Group, rather than CPRE Devon's general funds. Clearly state this at the point of giving, as set out below.

By cheque: made payable to "CPRE Devon", sent to the Treasurer, CPRE Devon, PO Box 26, Beaworthy, EX21 5XN, with "Devon Data Centre and BESS Action Group" written clearly on the cheque or an accompanying note.

By bank transfer, or to discuss a larger gift: contact CPRE Devon directly at info@cpredevon.org.uk or 01392 966737, stating that the gift is for the Devon Data Centre and BESS Action Group campaign.

Unless a donation is clearly marked or notified as being for this campaign, CPRE Devon cannot guarantee it will be allocated to this Restricted Fund. Donors are strongly encouraged to state this clearly when giving.

Our Pledge System

We have a Pledge Fund option for when we need large sums of finance, for example to seek a Judicial Review. You can contact us to discuss this in more detail. No funds are required at the moment, but when we do, it will be good to know we have your support.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation at no extra cost to yourself through Gift Aid. For every £1 you give, CPRE Devon can claim an extra 25p from HMRC, provided you have paid enough UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year to cover the amount reclaimed. Gift Aid will be added to the Restricted Fund after it has been received by CPRE Devon from HMRC.

To claim Gift Aid, tick the Gift Aid option when donating via our crowdfunder, or if donating by cheque or bank transfer, download and return a Gift Aid declaration form.

The Small Print: How Funds Are Spent

Funds are only released from the Restricted Fund in accordance with the group's agreed governance process. In particular:

Transparency and Accountability

A record of all funds received and all payments made from the Restricted Fund is maintained by CPRE Devon and reported to the Treasurer and Steering Group on a regular basis. The Steering Group may request a summary statement of the Restricted Fund at any time.

This arrangement is intended to ensure that all funds raised by residents and supporters are used solely for the purposes of the campaign, and that spending is subject to proper written scrutiny and sign-off before it is committed.
